ABOUT THE COURSE 

Guam History will focus on the geography of Guam, the surrounding islands of the Pacific region, the origins of the ancient Chamorro people, and cultural influences during the Spanish, Japanese, and Early American occupations. This course will also examine the role individuals and events played that helped contributed to the social, economic, and political development of the island.

Our Place in Planet Earth

 

An island unincorporated territory of the United States of America. Located in the Western Pacific, near Philippine Islands and Japan (13 degrees north, 144 degrees east) with a land area of 217 sq miles.

Our Ancestors the "Chamorros"
The Chamorros were believed to have inhabited the Mariana Islands some 4,000 years ago.  They were seafaring people, that came from Southeast Asia settling the Mariana archipelago .
